External spaces are truly integrated into the design - active therapy courtyards are part of each department, and all the departments have physical or visual access to an outdoor space. An approach that developed in consultation with the clinicians, the courtyards have been designed to assist in the healing process, as well as provide a retreat for the public and staff.
